Alexander Jablokov

I'm a writer, mostly of science fiction, with a new novel, Brain Thief.

The name is pronounced Yablokov, and the legal name is Jablokow.  My best friends can't spell or pronounce it, so you shouldn't worry about it either.

Where I've been

A couple of weeks ago, I suffered a detached retina in my left eye.  That required some fairly significant eye surgery, then a lot of lying propped up in bed with instructions not to move around too much, bend over, or read.

My eye seems to be recovering, though there are no guarantees. And I feel well enough to slide slowly into some of my usual activities.  So I will be writing more as time goes by.

Alex -

My best wishes for a quick recovery. I had one eye develop a cataract at an inappropriately early age -- probably from too much time in front of a computer meeting deadlines, while wearing old contact lenses -- and though that is a gentler, slower thing, I know that having something go wrong with your vision is no fun.

Take care of yourself. We need more Jablokov stories.
